If you’re planning to study in the UK, here’s something you need to know: Starting in 2025, the UK will replace physical Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) with digital e-Visas. This change is all about making your visa process simpler and more secure.

Important Things to Know

BRPs Expire Soon

Your current BRP is valid only until Dec 2024. After that, you’ll need to switch to an e-Visa.

Once you have your e-Visa, you can easily access & share your immigration status with employers, landlords, or others through an online portal.

How to Switch from a BRP to an e-Visa

Switching to an e-Visa is simple and free. Here’s how:

Create a UKVI Account. This is where you'll manage your e-Visa.
Download the "UK Immigration ID Check" App: This app will help confirm your identity
Confirm Your Identity: Use the app to verify your details.
Submit Your Application: After verifying your identity, you'll get an email confirming your eVisa application has been submitted.
Receive Your e-Visa: A few days later, you’ll receive another email confirming that your eVisa is ready.

Reminder: Make sure to switch to your e-Visa by 31st December 2024.
