Important Update: UK Student Visas Are Going Digital from Mid July 2025
The UK is going digital! Starting mid-July 2025, most international students will no longer receive a visa sticker in their passport
From Mid-July 2025
The UK government will begin issuing eVisas for most student visa applicants applying from outside the UK. This marks the end of traditional visa vignette stickers in passports for main applicants on study and work routes.
What’s Changing?
1
No more visa stickers
If you’re a student (main applicant), your visa will now be fully digital and viewable via your UKVI account.
2
Keep your passport
Although you’ll still attend a biometrics appointment, you won’t need to submit your passport. It will be scanned and returned within 3 hours.
3
Dependants still get physical vignettes
Your partner or children applying as dependants will continue to receive both a vignette and an eVisa.
Visit visa applicants for short-term study will also still receive vignette stickers.
What to Do After You Receive Your Visa Decision
Log into your UKVI account to view your eVisa.
Double-check all personal and passport details.
